BASSIST PHIL MALLORY has been playing professionally since 1969. Blessed with a strong sense of swing and a fertile imagination, Phil has played with many jazz greats, including Richie Cole, “Wild Bill” Davidson, Blue Mitchell, Lenny Breau, Al Viola, and Ross Tompkins. He joined the Page Cavanaugh Trio in 1990 and was with Page until his passing in 2008. A gifted arranger and composer, Phil has broadened his activities to include producing CDs for some very talented singers, performing songs from the 1920s, 1930s, and 1940s.

PERCUSSIONIST JASON LINGLE received his degree in performance and arranging from Berklee College of Music in 1999. After carving a niche as a top player in Boston, Jason moved to Los Angeles in 2003 and joined the Page Cavanaugh Trio the same year. One of a rare breed of drummers who can also sing, Jason has worked with Mike Garson, Peter Mimmelman, and Bird York, in addition to swinging with the Page Cavanaugh Trio. He has also written and played music that has made its way to television, including Joan of Arcadia, Judging Amy, and the DVD versions of Party of Five and Dawson’s Creek.

Live at Los Angeles Valley College, 3/18/09

With virtuosic flair, pianist, composer, and arranger Richard Kahn honors popular music of the 1940s.

Local artist has the characteristic fine taste of featuring top LA session players with three gorgeous and exciting young vocalists.  The popular Richard Kahn Trio appeared at the recently renovated Recital Hall at the Los Angeles Valley College, featuring vocalists Bianca Caruso, Sarah Schweppe, and Krishna Anderson.  Pianist and arranger Richard Kahn, bassist Phil Mallory, and drummer Gary Gibbons provided the colorful textures and swinging rhythms behind these talented singers.  The hall was filled with sounds reminiscent of the 1940s: the Andrews Sisters, Judy Garland, and, of course, the driving swing of the Richard Kahn Trio.
